Paint
Mix egg yolks and potting soil for brown paint that's all natural. Crack an egg and separate the yolk from the white. Add a teaspoon of water to the yolk and mix thoroughly. Mix in a sprinkling of potting soil. Don't add too much soil, as the consistency of the mixture should remain liquid.
Mud Monster
Use different types of soils and water mixtures to create your own Mud Monsters, figurines and more! You can add leaves, rocks, shells and other natural decorations!
Terrariums
Create a mini terrarium from leftover potting soil. Find a glass jar or container with a wide mouth. Use a container taller than 3 inches if you intend to add real plants. Sprinkle potting soil in the bottom. Add real plants, such as moss, creeping fig, sun dew, or hen and chicks to the soil. You may opt for fake plants. Decorate the terrarium with small plastic figurines for a whimsical scene. Use toy robots, cartoon characters or mythical figures for a kitschy look or animals for a more natural scene
Bookshelf Terrarium
Cover the bottom of a jar with gravel, and add 1/4 inch of ground charcoal. Mix 2 parts potting soil, 2 parts peat, and 1 part builder's sand; add to jar. Dig small holes for plants, such as sweet flag or Chinese elm. Spray completely with water before putting on lid. The terrarium should retain moisture, so rewatering won't be necessary, but check the soil periodically to be safe. You can grow your own plants!
Pumpkin Inside a Pumpkin
Open up the pumpkin, add a little soil and water, and watch the seeds (which are already inside the pumpkin) grow.
